Ausbildung in Germany: how to spot a scam and a trustworthy agency

The one-sentence test: nobody can guarantee a visa

This is the line between a serious service and a scam. The national D visa is issued by the German authorities after an application filed in Morocco, the Ausbildung contract is signed by a German company, and admission is granted by a university. No intermediary, Moroccan or German, sits inside those decisions.

An honest agency therefore commits to means: the quality of your file, the number of applications sent, the follow-ups, the interview preparation. It never commits to an outcome. If you read “guaranteed visa”, “contract secured” or “100 % success rate”, the conversation can end right there.

The same test applies to timelines. The accelerated procedure under § 81a AufenthG is real and shortens the wait, but it is triggered by the German employer, not by an agency in Morocco. It costs 411 € (2026 rate), and that fee is owed by the candidate unless the company signs a written cost-coverage statement, the Kostenübernahmeerklärung.

Six signals that should end the conversation

None of these signals requires expertise: you can check every one of them before paying a single dirham, and one alone is reason enough to walk away. They are not gut feelings but facts visible in a WhatsApp thread or on a Facebook page.

The last point is the most expensive one. Ausbildung places are not handed out as quotas to agencies: a German company publishes its vacancy, receives applications and chooses. Manufactured urgency serves one purpose only, which is to stop you checking before you pay.

• “Guaranteed visa”, “place reserved”, “100 % success”: impossible by design.
• No written, itemised quote before payment, and a price that changes depending on who asks.
• Cash-only payment, with no receipt, no invoice and no signed written contract.
• No verifiable identity: no company name, no address, no clearly stated registration status.
• A job offer or contract “already prepared” before you have any German level.
• Pressure to pay immediately: “two places left”, “the quota closes tomorrow”.

Four false claims heard everywhere in Morocco

“You must pay for your APS.” There is no APS for Morocco: that document-verification procedure applies to China, India and Vietnam. An agency invoicing a Moroccan candidate for an APS is charging for a service that does not exist, and it is the fastest test you can run on anyone.

“You can leave without German.” No. The Ausbildung visa requires a certified B1: without it the visa application cannot succeed, even if an employer says yes. In healthcare, schools and employers generally ask for B2, but that is their requirement, not a visa condition; the only documented exception is nursing assistance in North Rhine-Westphalia, based on an aptitude assessment by the school.

“Without the baccalaureate you can become a nurse.” False for direct entry: § 11 PflBG requires a mittlerer Schulabschluss or an equivalent qualification — not the German Abitur — and Morocco issues no diploma at the end of the Tronc Commun. Three healthcare occupations impose no school diploma in the regulations: MFA, ZFA and Pflegefachassistenz. Be careful, though: many employers still demand the Mittlere Reife in their adverts, and entry into Pflegefachassistenz depends on the school's assessment. Nothing here is automatic.

“The employer pays for everything.” It may cover certain costs, but nothing obliges it to, and it only does so in writing. The 411 € for the accelerated procedure is owed by the candidate, so are the 75 € for the D visa, plus travel, sworn translations and language courses.

What you can verify yourself, for free

anabin is free and public: within minutes you can check whether your Moroccan institution and diploma are listed, with no intermediary and no appointment. An agency charging for an “anabin search” is selling access to a database that anyone can open in a browser.

The Bundesagentur für Arbeit job portal publishes real Ausbildung vacancies with the company name. If the vacancy you are shown appears there, that is a good sign. Its absence, however, proves nothing: many German companies advertise only on their own website or on their chamber's apprenticeship board. In that case, check the Impressum and whether the company genuinely exists.

Every German company must publish an Impressum with its address and contact details, and it is readable from abroad. On the Moroccan side, ask the agency for its full identity and registration status: legal form, identification numbers, address. A structure still going through registration can say so plainly; what should worry you is cultivated vagueness, and a contract name that does not match the account receiving your money.

Finally, the visa application is filed through TLScontact, the provider mandated by the German embassy. Nobody decides the outcome on your behalf, and the appointment is booked where you could book it yourself.

Third-party costs, depending on your route

An honest quote separates two things: the fee for the support itself, and third-party costs going to German administrations, a language school or a bank. The second group never goes down, whichever agency you choose — but not all of it applies to you: several items depend on the route you take.

One detail that saves real money: in a company-based Ausbildung, no blocked account is required once your pay reaches 1 048 € GROSS, i.e. 822 € NET per month — two ways of writing the same threshold. Below it you do not block the whole amount, you cover the difference, and housing provided free or at a reduced rate by the employer counts towards the calculation. The legal first-year minimum is 724 € gross in 2026 (682 € in 2025) and it rises with each year of training, while the average pay observed sits around 1 133 € gross: at that minimum, proof of the difference is still required. Mind the reading, job ads publish gross pay — never compare a gross amount to the 822 € net threshold.

• National D visa: 75 € — for every route (2026 rate).
• anabin: free, and open to anyone.
• ZAB statement of comparability: around 208 € — only if a higher-education degree needs assessing (skilled-work route).
• Accelerated procedure § 81a: 411 € — only if the employer initiates it; the fee stays with the candidate.
• Goethe-Institut: around 3 000 MAD per level, exams 2 500 MAD for B1 and 2 800 MAD for B2 (2026 rates, to re-check).
• Blocked account (Sperrkonto): 11 904 € per year — study route; in an Ausbildung, not required above the net threshold.

Can you do it alone, without an agency?

Yes. Nothing in the German procedure requires an intermediary. You can search vacancies on the Bundesagentur für Arbeit portal and on company websites, write to companies directly through their Impressum, learn German up to a certified B1, then file your visa application through TLScontact.

What is expensive is not the information, which is public and free. It is the time, the writing in German in the format recruiters expect, the sheer volume of applications required, and the discipline of following up over several months without stopping at the first silence.

Saying that out loud is our position: if you have the time, the language level and the method, do it yourself. Support is only worth paying for when it saves time and prevents costly mistakes — never when it sells access to information that is already free.

What a serious agency puts in writing

A contract must state what is owed: how many applications, in which occupations, over what period, from which minimum German level, what suspends the service and what happens if you stop replying. A service that refuses to be bounded by numbers is a service you cannot claim later.

It must equally state, in plain words, what is not promised: no visa, no contract, no admission, no housing. That is an obligation of means rather than results, and the agency that writes it down protects you as much as it protects itself.

Finally, check how your documents are handled. Your file contains your CV, your diplomas and your passport: in Morocco that falls under the CNDP declaration, and storage in Europe falls under the GDPR. Ask where your files are kept, for how long, who they are shared with, and how far the declaration has progressed. A clear answer, even while the process is still under way, beats silence.
